What’s Your Strategy for Getting Noticed?

If you’re in business, you’re competing. There’s a lot of noise and in order to break through you have to get yourself noticed. That’s what marketing is all about — visibility.

Unlike the politicians, celebrities, and radicals, most small business owners can’t afford to be stepped in controversy, loud mouthing, competitor feuds, and all the other madness and hype that is seen each day, all for the sake of publicity. So then, what‘s your plan for getting yourself noticed? Here are some ideas:

  1. Be Relatable – People connect with you and your story. It doesn’t haveto be overly outrageous and dramatic, but it should be authentic. Be who you are and share your experiences and you will find people will connect with you based on that.————————–
  2. Get In Front of More People –  Stop being camera shy– literally and figuratively. To extend your reach you have to get in front of more people. That might be through speaking, social media, and strategic connections. Your current circle will take you only so far, so make some efforts to extend it.—————————-
  3. Have Something Relevant to Say – People notice you when you have something of value to offer. When you have an opportunity, in meetings, one-on-one conversations and any other mediums, make sure you give people value. Help them think through a problem, create new strategies, see a different perspective. When you do that you will inevitably be more noticeable.
